grousehunter61 04-18-2010, 10:00 PM I guess this is where we tell a little about our selves. I live in Idaho, and drive a 1983 Camaro. I bought it new in 83 and have had it ever since. When I bought it it had the iron duke 4 banger in it. At 100,000 miles I changed it out to a 229 V6. I had read about the 90% V6 and liked what I read. Mine is bored 30 over, TRW forged pistons, Engle cam, roller rockers, Edelbrock intake, Holly 4 bbl, Mallory dual point distributor, Holly fuel pump. The dash was changed out to a Cyberdyne digital gages. I just rebuilt the motor and am in the process of repainting the car, after 27 years it was faded and had it share of battle scars. I have had the car up to 135 mph and backed out of it, it gets a little light in the front at that speed.
The motor just before I stuck it back in.

geteurdone 04-19-2010, 08:55 AM :th_wavey: Howdy and :welcome: to The forum grousehunter61 - pull up a chair, kick your feet up and make yourself right at home - ride is looking good and can't wait to see the pics when its all together and painted - wow wish I was able to keep some of the rides I use to have in the early 70's - got to agree with your quote "growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional:old:" it's just the sometimers (sometimes i can remember sometimes i can't, but definitely not alltimers) that gets me - again :Welcome2: aboard and enjoy :alien::rockon:
DukeOfHurl 04-22-2010, 09:01 PM Welcome to the site, looks like the car is really going to come together nice.
grousehunter61 04-23-2010, 11:40 AM Thanks, the body has been painted, now I am starting on the trim. I was very lucky, I had just finished painting when the rain clouds rolled in , here I was with a wet paint car. My neighbor has a enclosed car hauler, we backed it down the drive way, and loaded the Camaro in it, just as the drops started falling, It rained all night and most of the day plus the rain knocked down the blossoms from the trees, that would have been a mess and required a full repaint, as it is the car is sitting in the trailer nice and dry. I only have the rear bumper to paint and the side trim, reinstall the door handles, buff out the tail lamps and repaint the stripes. Still waiting for the timeing chain cover from Summit, its been 2 weeks and its still on back order.
DukeOfHurl 04-25-2010, 11:29 PM Man that was a close call...good thing your neighbor helped you out.
grousehunter61 04-27-2010, 11:15 AM Almost done, still have the side trim to put back on and the inside passenger door. Got a e-mail from Summit, my part has been shipped and should be here sometime this week, its been on back order for 3 weeks.
The view most people will see.

DukeOfHurl 04-27-2010, 11:33 PM The car looks fantastic...if you are anywhere near Dallas I might have to see if you could paint mine. Looks like you're not in Texas though...
grousehunter61 04-28-2010, 08:40 AM Sorry, but I am in Idaho. I live on the salmon River in Riggins. I can't wait to get it back on the road. Thanks for the complement.
