Hi, I have a 1989 Camaro RS with a 305 TBI boat-anchor under the hood and a manual tranny. I was lucky enough to get a pretty much reliable 3rdgen so I'm having way more fun driving it than repairing it ;)
We're slowly getting ready to replace the 305 with a 350 LS1 or something like that plus automatic :D

Welcome to the site. Funny how 305s are actually pretty dang reliable considering how much smack is talked about them.

thanks for welcoming me guys

Forgot to mention... I also have front brakes from a C4 on my car :D they merely fit into the stock 15 inch wheels ;)

more like plastic surgery or some kind of transplantation?

oh you bet it's reliable. It never left me stranded... well, maybe once, but I was kinda asking for it :) It was the well known hot start problem related to the starter solenoid and I have already had the remote solenoid kit in my trunk just waiting for getting installed... But actually it had nothing to do with the 305 itself ;)

The engine has like ~220k miles on it, it's been overheated a couple of times (I did it only once) and still all I have to do is fire it up, step on the gas and enjoy the ride... plus add a quart of oil every once in a while

Nothing wrong with that. I've never heard of a car with that many miles and that many years old that doesn't have atleast a few quirks.
