Hi,
The name's Mark but my friends call me Sparky cuz I'm good with 'lectricity:rolleyes:

I have a blue 2001 daily driver with a V-6 I love to drive on the mountain roads around my home. It gets me 26 MPG and has the Monsoon stereo that helps make the commute bearable.

I also have a 1971 standard coupe in the midst of restoration (read: a bunch of money tied up in expensive parts in the workshop collecting dust). Some day I hope to call it done but you know how that is...:hilarious::hilarious:

Hey what's up guys? Sparky, we have a diary section here that might be a good place to document your progress on the '71. I'm getting close to buying a motor for my '86 so there will be and update with pics in the coming weeks, y'all should check it out.

lol my username doesn't mean anything...it was random. I'm trying not to rush into buying a motor for my car. It will definetly be a 350. I looked at one a couple weeks ago from a '92 truck for $300. Don't know much about '92's so I'm not sure if I should pull the trigger or look for a '70s motor to swap my TPI onto.

What happened to the motor that came out of it?

Well the original 305 has only been cranked a handfull of times in the past 6 years and the last time it decided to start knocking. So I figured it was inevitable that the 305 would be yanked for a 350 and rather than trying to resurrect the original motor I decided to go ahead and upgrade. It's a TPI motor so I'm not sure if there is any extra bungs, taps or whatever that I need.

Yeah a new(er) 350 is the ticket. I dont know for sure but the TPI should bolt on the 350. It has a computer dosent it? Dont you need new injectors for that kinda swap if you plan on using the TPI? I found your diary thread. :)

Yeah I was planning that my last step in the swap would be finding a set of injectors and PROM from a L98. But hopefully the car will atleast run with the LB9 components in place.

I rebuilt a 454 into an LS-6 for my 71. Its a beast too. I got it to move under its own power but I have zero electrical in it other than a starter circuit hooked up to the battery I mounted in the trunk.

Awesome...I'm a fan of big blocks but considering that I can barely change my spark plugs with a small block in there I think I'll pass on the big motor. But I can't wait to see how it works out for you. I bet that thing will put out some monster torque when you get it smoothed out.
